Protect the Protocol! Devcon Mumbai
Sticker: I voted NO for Decentralization Theater

Vote no on decentralization theater.

Should an open social protocol depend on the permission of a single company?

Why we're here

A door is not an exit if someone else holds the key.

This is a peaceful, pro-decentralization action. We are calling for Farcaster’s essential infrastructure to be moved onto credibly neutral foundations, so no single person or company can capture the protocol or control the community’s ability to communicate.

Our goal isn’t to target individuals, run an anti-person campaign, or disrupt the Ethereum ecosystem. We want to make the community’s concerns visible and encourage collaboration on a lasting solution, without taking sides between Balaji, Cassie, Suji, or any other steward.

What we’re fighting for

  1. Protect the protocol. Move Farcaster’s essential infrastructure, including critical APIs and social data, onto credibly neutral foundations anchored to Ethereum.
  2. End centralized choke points. No single operator should be able to arbitrarily restrict access, visibility, or participation across the network.
  3. Make exit meaningful. Users should be able to leave an application without losing their identities, relationships, conversations, or communities.
  4. Prioritize interoperability. Farcaster, Hypersnap, and Ethereum-native clients should be able to communicate through shared, open standards.
  5. Protect user choice. Moderation should be transparent, portable, and user-controlled rather than imposed as a network-wide restriction by one operator.

What we are not fighting for

  • We are not protesting to remove the current owners or replace one owner with another.
  • We are not trying to change the current owner’s mind about how they should run their community.
